Amazon Supply – The Birth of a Giant In The Supply Chain

Amazon.com has been the leading retailer online for ages and with the launch of its new vertical they are referring to as Amazon Supply, the site has made yet another ground breaking achievement, proving they are on top of this game. The site, which is in beta, is essentially an online store targeting business, commerce and industry. Launched in April 2012,

The Amazon Supply chain  brings to the market world-wide, approximately half a million different items. The items can be categorized into 14 different groups which are: office, fleet and vehicle maintenance, lab and scientific, measuring and inspection, testing, janitorial and sanitation, occupational health and safety, hand and power tools, material handling, hydraulics pneumatics and plumbing, abrasives and finishing, cutting tools, power transmission and materials.

In addition to the vast items on the catalog Amazon Supply offers every day low prices in addition to a three sixty five day return policy meaning, items that are eligible can be returned within that period if they remain in saleable condition. In continuance of Amazon professionalism, the customer service team is dedicated and highly skilled and will assist customers with quality service.

Also on stand by is the technical team reachable at their 1-800 number or by email via the “contact us” form. Payments are made quite easy and can be made via an Amazon.com corporate credit line and one can expect a free two day shipping service for orders surpassing $50.

Amazon  Supply will enable you to shop faster and cheaper. The “My Project” feature on the site enables someone to create and save a shopping or shopping lists that are separate for different projects. This makes it easier to organize your shopping and multitask between a number of projects. Another great feature is that, Amazon Supply does not place any minimum order brink on any of the 500,000 item in their stock. This means they fill orders of any size, regardless.

What the Amazon Supply chain is offering is an offer that one cannot pass up. The selection of items is vast, the prices of the items are low, shipping the item(s) is free and the delivery period is short. It is here that one will get those hard to find parts and the most basic of items, all in the same place.

The e-commerce giant has turned its attention to businesses and corporations and it is a good deal considering the offer they are giving. It is a new and exciting venture for anyone to go into as it will cost very little. The fact is Amazon Supply, under the wings of Amazon, already has the infrastructure and capabilities to be able to take on the new market with ease. It can be compared to adding a new store or high quality product line to an already successful business venture.

Having acquired Small Parts Inc. back in 2005, Amazon was able to expand their selection and services and even outgrew their initial aim of dealing in research industry and medical supplies. Since it launch, Small Parts redirects to Amazon Supply. All that can be done is observe how this emerging giant will be able to re-shape the supply chain as Amazon did the retail chain.
